Match-5:Pune Warriors opens the IPL account with an excellent Victory

Pune Warriors made an impressive start of their IPL campaign,beating Kings XI Punjab by seven wickets at Mumbai.

Kings XI had a horrible start,as Alfonso Thomas got Gilchrist and Shrikant Wagh had Shaun Marsh caught.The situation worsened when Paul Valthaty got out to Thomas and then Dinesh Karthik, both out caught. The score was for four in only the 4th over.

Ryan Mclaren to the crease and he held the innings together with a superb half century under pressure.His 51 not out off 43 balls, including six fours and one six. Kings ended their innings at 112 for eight.

Set 113 to chase, Pune lost Graeme Smith off the first ball from Praveen Kumar.But from then on, Mithun Manhas and Jesse Ryder steadied the ship putting on 60 runs for the second wicket. Manhas scored 35 off 32 balls including five fours and one six, while Ryder scored 31 off 17 balls with the help of six boundaries.

Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa then scored quickfire twenties to stear Pune to a well-deserved victory.
