Match-56:Chennai Claimed A Victory Over Delhi Daredevils

MS Dhoni played a captain’s inning hammering a belligerent unbeaten half-century to guide Chennai Super Kings to an 18-run win over the Delhi Daredevils.Dhoni smashed 63 in just 31 deliveries,with five fours and four huge sixes.Badrinath smacked 55 in 43 balls with six fours and a six.Murali Vijay scored 35 runs.Chennai posted 176 for four in 20 overs.

Daredevils could only manage to reach 158 for six in reply.Venugopal Rao made 30 in 20 balls.Irfan Pathan fought hard and remained unbeaten on 44 in 34.

Chris Gayle hammered 77 not out off 44 balls with six fours and four sixes,guiding Royal Challengers Bangalore over Rajasthan Royal by nine wickets at Jaipur.Virat Kohli stayed till the end with Gayle,putting on 83 runs.Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 38 runs off 28 balls. He hit eight fours.

Earlier, Rajasthan batted first and started off well as Shane Watson and Rahul Dravid provided a solid first wicket partnership.Watson hit 34 runs off 29 balls,including three fours and two sixes and Dravid scored 37 off 31 balls,including six boundaries.

Sreenath Aravind struck a double blow,removing both Watson and Dravid.After that no other batsman could stay on pitch for a long time.Royals finished at 146 for six in their twenty overs.

The Kings XI Punjab thrashed Mumbai Indians by 76-runs at Mohali.Adam Gilchrist made 28 off 28 balls.Marsh smacked 43 in 34 balls and Dinesh Karthik stroked 31 in 24 deliveries.

Lasith Malinga took two for 24 for Mumbai.

Chasing 164 to win,Mumbai side was dismissed for just 87,thanks to Young Let-arm  spinner Bhargav Bhatt returned with figures of four for 22,taking the wickets of Kieron Pollard (17), Harbhajan Singh (12), Dhawal Kulkarni (2) and Munaf Patel (0).

Sourav Ganguly made a strong return by smashing an unbeaten 32 thumping the Pune Warriors to a much-needed six-wicket victory over the Deccan Chargers.  

The Chargers started well with Shikhar Dhawan hitting 24, Dwaraka Ravi Teja and JP Duminy both scoring 30.Yuvraj SIngh struck twice.Marsh returned four for 25 removing Ravi Teja, Duminy, Sunny Sohal and Amit Mishra.Chargers were restricted to 136 for nine.

Pune reached their target with ten balls to spares,thanks to Jesse Ryder smacked 35 in 20 balls,including two sixes and Manish Pandey made 49 in 42 deliveries.

Ganguly's made a great return to IPL by playing a vital knock of 32 runs,hitting one six and three boundaries.Christian took two wickets.

Chennai Super Kings beat Rajasthan Royals by 63 runs at Jaipur.Vijay was scored 53 runs off 40 balls, with two fours and three sixes.Hussey made 46 runs off 30 balls, including eight fours.Along with Michael Hussey he put on 77 runs for the first wicket, the fifty run mark coming in the sixth over.Dhoni smashed a quick fire 41 runs off 19 balls,hitting three fours and three sixes.Raina scored vital 46 runs.Chennai finished at 196 for four in twenty overs.

Rajasthan were under tremendous pressure as they were chasing a stiff target.Rajasthan lost both openers cheaply.Ajinkya Rahane fought hard by making 52 runs off only 36 balls, including seven boundaries.Eventually Rajasthan were bowled out for 133 in the 20th over.

Yuvraj Singh led his side to victory as Pune Warriors ended their seven match losing run beating Kings XI by 5 wickets at Mohali.Yuvraj made quickfire 35 off 15 balls, with five fours and two sixes.Robin Uthappa was made 22 vital runs.

Kings XI won the toss and chose to bat first.Paul Valthaty made 23 runs off 22 balls,including four fours in his own style.Shaun Marsh top scored in the innings,making 32 runs off 28 balls with three fours and one six.Kings XI could only manage 119 for eight in their 20 overs.Rahul Sharma took two wickets for Pune.

Match-50:Royal Challengers Beat Kochi Tuskers Kerala By Nine Wickets

Tillakaratne Dilshan scored an unbeaten half-century as the Royal Challengers Bangalore registered a victory over the Kochi Tuskers Kerala at Bangalore.Dilshan smashed 52 off 31 balls.Chris Gayle smacked 44 runs off 15 balls with five sixes and three fours.Virat Kohli who was unbeaten on 27 runs off 33 balls.

From Kochi,McCullum made 24 runs and Klinger got 22.Ravindra Jadeja played contributed by making 23 runs off 22 balls,with two fours.But eventually they finished at 125 for nine.Daniel Vettori picked two wickets as also did Sreenath Aravind.

The Mumbai Indians booked ticket in IPL play-offs with a comprehensive 32 run win over the Delhi Daredevils at Mumbai.Rayudu was the top-scorer for Mumbai with 59 runs off 39 balls, with seven fours and two sixes.Blizzard hit 37 runs off 28 balls, including eight fours.Rohit was not able to complete his fifty as Morne Morkel had him caught at 49 off 32 balls,with two fours and three sixes.Mumbai posted 178 for 4 in 20 overs.

In reply,Delhi lost four for seven for four.James Hopes showed some resistance with 55 runs off 44 balls,hitting ten fours. Rao made 37 runs while Pathan scored 23 runs.Majestic Malinga took two wickets.Despite their best efforts,Delhi were bowled out for 146 runs.

Subramaniam Badrinath scored a half-century but Chennai were still beaten by Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs (D/L method) in a partly washed off match due to rain at Kolkata.

Chennai batted first and they had all their 20 overs to play,but they lost three wickets for just 49 runs.Subramaniam Badrinath rebuilt the innings with 54 runs off 41 balls, including three fours and two sixes.Albie Morkel made vital 30 off 30 balls.

Batting second,Kolkata made  61 for two in 10 overs,which were ten runs more than the D/L par score,thanks to important contributions from Jacques Kallis (21), Gautam Gambhir and Manoj Tiwary.Ashwin took two wickets for Chennai.

Chris Gayle's terrific century helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore to beat Kings XI Punjab by 85-runs.He smashed 107 runs,hitting ten fours and nine huge sixes.he faced just 49 balls to reach three figures,which is the second time in IPL.Virat Kohli contributed with 27 and AB de Villiers made 27.Ryan Harris took three wickets for Punjab. 

The Kings XI’s batting collapsed thanks to Sreenath Aravind, who took four for 14 and Gayle,grabbed three for 21.Ryan McLaren (28),Paul Valthaty (21), Dinesh Karthik (20) were the top scorers for Punjab.

Virender Sehwag scored a tremendous century to guide the Delhi Daredevils to a four-wicket win over the Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad.Sehwag’s blistering knock of 119 in 56 balls,consisted of 13 fours and six sixes.Aaron Finch (0), Naman Ojha (7), Yalaka Venugopal Rao (3) and Travis Birt (4) all departed cheaply,but Sehwag’s destructive batting was good enough to beat Deccans.

Earlier, the Chargers made 175 for five with Duminy hitting 55 in 31 balls and captain Kumar Sangakkara making 44 in 36 deliveries.Shikhar Dhawan made 29 and Daniel Christian made 27.

The Kochi Tuskers Kerala registered a fantastic over the Kolkata Knight Riders by 17 runs at home.Batting first,Tuskers posted 156 for five,thanks to captain Mahela Jayawardene who led by example with 55 runs in 41 balls,hitting two fours and two sixes.Michael Klinger made 29 while Parthiv Patel made 21.Brad Hodge hammered 35 not out in just 18 balls to drive his side to a winning total.

Knight Riders were restricted to 139 for seven in reply, despite Eoin Morgan's maiden IPL half-century(66 in 51 balls),hitting eight fours and two sixes.Jacques Kallis hit 45 in 41 deliveries.

Lasith Malinga took three wickets for 25 as the Mumbai Indians beat the Pune Warriors by 21 runs.Mumbai took 28 runs from their penultimate over.

The important contributions coming from Tirumalsetti Suman (36), Kieron Pollard (29), Ambati Rayudu (27) and Sachin Tendulkar (24) help Mumbai to post the total of 160 for seven.Jerome Taylor, Yuvraj Singh and Rahul Sharma all took two wickets for Pune.

In Reply,Pune lost Jesse Ryder and Graeme Smith cheaply.Manish Pandey showed some resistance with 59 in 47 balls but Mumbai restricted the Warriors to 139 for seven.

Michael Hussey scored a classic half-century to guide the Chennai Super Kings to a fifth home win out of five by 8 wickets.

Hussey hit eight fours and a six in his unbeaten  79 in 55 balls.Raina smashed 61 in 51 balls,chasing Rajasthan’s 147 for six.

Rahul Dravid scored 66 in 51 balls and Shane Watson made 33 for Rajasthan.

Shadab Jakati dismissed both Watson and Johan Botha for eight.

Match-42:Knight Riders Reached Top,Beating Chargers

The Kolkata Knight Riders registered a 20-run victory over the Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad.Yusuf Pathan smacked 47 not out,hammering three fours and three sixes, to help the Knight Riders to post a score of 169 for four.Jacques Kallis (30), Gautam Gambhir (35) and Manoj Tiwary (33) helped to build the innings.

The Chargers made a good start,as the openers-Sunny Sohal scored 26 and Shikhar Dhawan smashed 54 in 56 balls. Ravi Teja hit a valiant 30 in 22 balls but it wasn't enough and finally the Deccan Chargers finished with 149 for six in reply. Rajat Bhatia took 2 wickets for 26.

The Kochi Tuskers Kerala beat the Delhi Daredevils by seven wickets at Delhi,with the help of a key innings by Brendon McCullum who smashed all over the park,making 37 runs off 19 balls,hitting five fours and two sixes. Parthiv Patel played a crucial knock  of 37 not out off 31 balls,hitting five fours and steered his side home,chasing 141 runs for victory. Brad Hodge remained unbeaten on 24 runs off 13 balls.


Earlier, Delhi were put into bat first,but they lost their openers Virender Sehwag and David Warner cheaply.Rao top scored with 40 runs off 36 balls, including five fours.  Travis Birt played a cameo inning,hitting 27 runs off only 15 balls with five boundaries.But it was not well enough to beat Kochi. Delhi eventually finish with 140 for 6 in their twenty over.

Mumbai Indians beat the Kings XI Punjab by twenty-three runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai,thanks to crucial half centuries by Sachin Tendulkar and Ambati Rayudu.Tendulkar’s fifty-one runs came off forty-five balls while Rayudu scored fifty-one runs from thirty-seven balls.Pollard smashed quick twenty runs.The Mumbai Indians posted total of around 159. Piyush Chawla and Ryan Harris picked up a couple of wickets each.

Marsh hammered sixty-one runs from forty-seven balls for Punjab.But  Lasith Malinga  strike twice as did Harbhajan Singh to restrict the Kings XI Punjab to 139.

Chennai Super Kings beat the Deccan Chargers by nineteen runs at home.The Chennai Super KIngs presented the total of 165 to the Deccan Chargers with the help of Michael Hussey’s forty-six runs and Suresh Raina’s  fine knock of fifty-nine runs came off only thirty-five balls.Pragyan Ojha picked up three wickets for Chargers.

Deccan Chargers’ Sunny Sohal opened the batting and scored a half century.but other batsmen failed to support him.Morkel returned with three wickets. Bollinger took two.

Delhi Daredevils managed to beat the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in their home town,thanks to Virender Sehwag,who was clearly the outstanding performer as he smashed eighty runs from only forty-seven balls,with eight fours and five sixes.Delhi posted the total of 157 runs.Sreesanth took two wickets.

Kochi Tuskers Kerala’s response was not strong enough as they lost three for twenty-eight.Brad Hodge and Ravindra Jadeja tried to stabilize the innings.But it was difficult with Morne Morkel and Roelof van der Merwe,each of them picking up three wickets for the Delhi Daredevils,packing off the Kochi innings at 119 to registered a much-deserved victory by thirty-eight runs.

Put into bat first,Chris Gayle provided Bangalore a superb start,smashing 49 runs off 26 balls,hitting four fours and four sixes.Virat Kohli contributed well with a  second consecutive half century,making 67 runs off 42 balls, including four boundaries and four sixes. Bangalore made 181 for 5 in their twenty overs.

 
In reply,Pune Warriors made a decent start as Jesse Ryder stroked a half century.Skipper Yuvraj Singh  made 41 runs off only 23 balls,hitting two fours and three sixes, while Robin Uthappa scored 23 runs off 17 balls,but Pune fell short once again.
