Match-26:Delhi Daredevils Beat Kings XI Punjab by 29 runs

The Delhi Daredevils beat the Kings XI Punjab by 29 runs,thanks to Virender Sehwag who hammered  77 off 35 balls with eight fours and four sixes and Warner who blasted 77 runs off 48 balls with seven fours and four sixes.Venugopal Rao scored 28 runs off just 15 balls and Naman Ojha made 19 balls off eight, with two sixes, to help Delhi to reach a huge total of 231.

Chasing a mammoth 232 for victory,Shaun Marsh blasted 95 runs, made off only 46 balls with nine fours and six big sixes. But it was not enough, to beat Delhi Daredevils.

Match-25:Mumbai beat IPL-3 champions-Chennai by 8 runs

The Mumbai Indians beat IPL-3 champions Chennai Super Kings by eight runs with the help of Rohit Sharma’s excellant knock of 87 in 48 balls, hitting eight fours and five sixes and Habrhajan Singh’s fabulous five wickets hall.Ambati Rayudu made 27 and Andrew Symonds scored 31.

Chasing the target 165,Chennai managed to make just 156 for nine,thanks to outstanding fielding and bowling by Mumbai.Michael Hussey made 41 and Subramaniam Badrinath remained not out on 71,hitting seven fours and two sixes, facing just 48 balls.

Match-24:Gayle smashed a fine century as Royal Challengers Bangalore beat the Kolkata Knight Riders

Chris Gayle, from the Royal Challengers Bangalore,hammered a 55-ball century,hitting ten fours and seven huge sixes to register a much-needed victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.He was supported well by Dilshan who made 38 in 31 balls and  Virat Kohli who scored 30 not out in 23 balls.

Earlier, the Knight Riders batted well to reach 171 for five.Gautam Gambhir made 48, Yusuf Pathan made 46 off 26,hitting three fours and three sixes  and Jacques Kallis made 40.

Match-23:Kings XI crushed Rajasthan Royals by 48 runs

Shaun Marsh top scored with 71 off 42 balls with six fours and three sixes,as the Kings XI Punjab scored a big win by 48 runs over the Rajasthan Royals in Mohali.Earlier,Kings XI got off to a sensational start bringing up the first 50 runs in only three overs.Gilchrist made 28 runs off 16 balls with four fours and one six.but the real damage was done by  Valthaty-the volcano who made 46 runs off 31 balls,including four fours and three sixes.He took apart Trivedi’s second over for 25 runs.The score read 67 runs in only 4.2 overs.

Chasing a mammoth total of 196 runs,Rajasthan lost their openers for 18.
Shane Watson scored four boundaries in his score of 24 runs.Menaria contributed with 34 runs while Binny and Raut contributed 30 and 25 respectively. In the end, the huge chase proved too much for them.

Match-22:Kochi Tuskers Kerala Knocked out Kolkata Knight Riders

The Kochi Tuskers Kerala registered their third successive IPL-2011 win beating  the Kolkata Knight Riders by six-runs at Eden Gardens. Ravi Jadeja starred once again with the bat and the ball.

Ravi Jadeja scored vital 29 runs to help Kochi to put up a total for seven.Openers Brendon McCullum (23) and Mahela Jayawardene (25) provided a good start. Pathan took three for 20 and Shakib took three for 28.

In reply, Kolkata then made a poor start, losing Manvinder Bisla for 16, Jacques Kallis for six and Gautam Gambhir for three.Manoj Tiwary steadied the ship, making 46 in 51 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes.But it was not enough and Kolkata were restricted to 126 for nine.RP Singh and Jadeja both taking two wickets.

Match-21:Mumbai won the thriller over Pune Warriors on the last ball

Rohit Sharma hit the last ball for six as the Mumbai Indians scored a seven-wicket win over the Pune Warriors.Sachin Tendulkar led the way with 35, Ambati Rayudu scored 37.Sharma made unbeaten 20 in 18 balls and Andrew Symonds 16 not out in 15 balls to steer Mumbai to the victory. 

Earlier Pune made only 118 losing all wickets in 17.2 overs.Robin Uthappa scored vital 45 in 37 balls, including six fours and a six to help pune to cross the 100 run mark.Munaf Patel took 3 wickets and Abu Nechim took for 2 wickets .

Match-19:Deccan Chargers Destroyed Delhi Daredevils

Kumar Sangakkara scored a classy 49 off 35 balls, including eight fours and one six to set Deccan Chargers for a win over the Delhi Daredevils by 16 runs.Sunny Sohal also contributed with a half century hitting eight fours and one six.Cameron White smacked 31 runs off 25 balls, with two fours and a six, taking the total to 168 for 4 after 20 overs. 

Chasing a target of 169 runs, Delhi lost their top order batsmen cheaply,except Warner who made 51 runs off 48 balls with five fours and one six.

Match 18:Kochi Tuskers Kerala Stun IPL-3 Champions Chennai

Kochi Tuskers Kerala registered a second successive victory in a rain-affected match  beating Chennai Superkings by seven wickets.

In reply to the Super Kings' 131 for four in 17 overs,From Kochi openers Brendon  McCullum and  Parthiv Patel gave a superb start. McCullum hit a quickfire 47,including three huge sixes and four fours. Parthiv Patel made 34.Kochi finished the game in style with Jadeja providing the fireworks,making an unbeaten 16 in just six balls and Brad Hodge made an unbeaten 19 in 14 balls.

Chennai reached the score of 131,thanks to a fine knock of 50 in 40 balls from Suresh Raina. Murali Vijay smacked 28 in 18 balls.Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit 15 not out in 13 balls.

Match 17:Kolkata crushed Rajasthan beating by eight wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders topped the table by registering an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata.

Kolkata decided to field first after winning the toss.But Rajasthan lost their wickets cheaply at regular intervals. Ashok Menaria top scored with 21 runs off 17 balls with one four.

For Kolkata Lakshmipathy Balaji took three for 15 in three overs and Shakib Al Hasan took two for 21 from his four. Brett Lee, Yusuf Pathan and Iqbal Abdullah chipped in with a wicket apiece as Rajasthan were bowled out for a low total of 81 in 15.2 overs.

The target was never going to challenge the hosts,and they reach the target easily,thanks to Skipper Gautam Gambhir who made 35 off 35 with three boundaries and Manoj Tiwary who scored 30 runs off 26 balls with four fours and one six.

Match 16:Delhi ended Pune's Golden Run

Delhi Daredevils upset  Pune Warriors by beating them by three wickets at Navi Mumbai and registering their first win of the 2011 IPL season.


Chasing 188 runs for victory, Delhi’s opening batsmen-Virender Sehwag and David Warner gave a terrific start.Warner made 37 off 23 balls with six fours.Sehwag also made 37 runs before he was bowled in the 10th over. Pune’s skipper Yuvraj Singh took  4 for 29 in four overs.But then Venugopal Rao made 31 runs off 20 balls and Aaron Finch made 25 runs off 12 balls to guide Delhi to a winning position.

Earlier, Pune Warriors put up a winning total on the board,with the help of a quick fire inning of Jesse Ryder,who made 60 runs off a mere 27 balls,including five boundaries and five sixes.Yuvraj also contributed well by smacking an unbeaten 66 runs off 32 balls, including four boundaries and five sixes,to set up a good total.

Match-15:Valthaty Starred Again As Kings XI Beat Chargers

Kings XI Punjab continued their winning habit in the IPL 2011 as they crushed Deccan Chargers by eight wickets at Hyderabad,thanks to Paul Valthaty’s 75 off 47 balls, with eight fours and five sixes and Gilchrist’s 61 off 46 balls,including five fours and three sixes, chasing a stiff 166-run target.

Earlier, Valthaty stole the show with a dazzling display with the ball as well taking 4 wickets for 29 from his four overs.Sangakkara made 35 runs off 28 balls and Dhawan made 45 runs off 36 balls for  Deccan. Deccan just managed to reach 165 for eight in 20 overs. Ryan McLaren took two wickets.

Match-14:Hussey’s half- century helped Chennai to beat Banglore

Chennai Super Kings registered a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai,  winning by 22 runs.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first.Openers Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey gave them strong start, putting up 51 runs for the first wicket. Vijay was out for 31 runs made off 21 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Raina made 29 runs with three boundaries and Dhoni made 22 runs with one four. They both also hit one six each.But the major contribution was  by Hussey,who made 83 runs off only 56 balls, with 11 boundaries.With the help of his fine knock, Chennai reached 183 for five in their 20 overs.

From Bangalore, only Kohli and de Villiers contributed well.all other batsmen struggled and got out cheaply. Kohli made 35 runs, de Villiers scored 64 runs off 44 balls with five fours and two sixes. But their efforts were never going to be enough to beat  Chennai.

Match-9:Kings beat Superkings

Paul Valthaty blasted an excellant century to guide the Kings XI Punjab to a magnificent six-wicket victory over the IPL-3 champions, the Chennai Super Kings.He hit 19 fours and two sixes in his match-winning knock of 120 not out in just 63 balls to help the Kings XI Punjab to achieve the big total of 189. Tim Southee, Albie Morkel and Suraj Randiv all picked up a wicket apiece.

Earlier, Kings XI made an excellent start to the match, stunning the champions when Praveen Kumar removed Anirudha Srikkanth and Suresh Raina for golden ducks with the first two balls of the match. Chennai reached the score of 188, with the help of  a century partnership between Murali Vijay, who made 74 in 43 balls and Subramaniam Badrinath, who struck 66 not out in 56 balls. Mahendra Singh Dhoni made an important 43 in 20 balls in the later stage of the inning,hitting four fours and two sixes .
