India beat Sri Lanka by 21 runs in the first One-Day International in Hambantota, thanks to the second-wicket partnership of 173 between Virender Sehwag and Virat Kohli. India built a giant total of 314 for six. Kohli scored his 12th century from 106 balls while Sehwag  fell four short of his 16th ODI century as he was run-out.
