- Anil Kumble is a right arm leg spinner and is most famous for his googly and he bats right-handed.
- Anil made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka at Sharjah in April 1990 and his Test debut later that year at Old Trafford against England.
- He took 24 wickets in just 3 Test matches when India toured Australia in 2003/04.
- Kumble took just 10 Test matches to take his first 50 Test wickets, making him the only Indian bowler to do so.
- In November 1993, in a ODI against the West Indies at Calcutta he took 6 wickets for 12 runs, a new record for best bowling figures by an Indian, a record which has remained unbeaten for 10 years.
- Anil is one of only two bowlers to take all 10 wickets in a Test match, the other being Jim Laker, he achieved this against Pakistan in the second Test played in New Delhi in February 1999.
- Anil Kumble became India's highest wicket taker when he trapped Mohammad Rafique of Bangladesh in December 2004, to overtake Kapil Dev's haul of 434 wickets.
- Took 74 Test wickets in 2004, only Kapil Dev has taken more for India in a calendar year.
