INDIA CLINCHED THE ODI SERIES




Swashbuckling centuries from Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag led India to a comprehensive 147-run victory in the Third ODI at the R. Premadesa Stadium in Colombo.
Muttiah Muralitharan equalled Wasim Akram's record of 502 One Day International wickets but he was unable to stop India from winning the Third ODI.
With the help of the sensational centuries of Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag and a hardhitting batting display from Yusuf Pathan, India managed to a score of 363 for five.Sri Lanka were bowled out for 216.Pragyan Oza took 4 wickets.Kumar Sangakkara's inning of 83 went in vain.
Yuvraj was at the crease early after Sachin Tendulkar (7) was again given out lbw by umpire's wrong decision in Dilhara Fernando's bowling and Gautam Gambhir was run out.Yuvraj and Sehwag steadied the ship with thier excellant batting display.Yuvraj reached his first century against Sri Lanka and 11th hundred of his career and Sehwag reached the tenth hundred of his career.Yuvraj also became the first Indian to score a century against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka for ten years.Yuvraj and Sehwag both scored 17 fours in their centuries while Yuvraj also struck a six. The pair added 221 for the third wicket.
Finally,Sri Lanka got the breakthrough and as Yuvraj got out in Muralitharan's bowling.Yuvraj scored 117 runs of 95 balls.With this wicket,Murlitharan equalled Wasim Akram's record of 502 ODI wickets.
Sehwag was brilliantly run out by Jayasuriya for 116 in 90 balls. Suresh Raina got out cheaply.but Yusuf Pathan swung his arms in the final overs.He blasted a boundary-filled unbeaten 59 in 38 balls while Mahendra Singh Dhoni was unbeaten on 35 in 45 balls having hit just one four.
The boundary count reached to 42 fours and five sixes.
In reply to huge target,Sri lanka had a horrible start.Jayasuriya was bowled with his first ball by Praveen Kumar.
Dilshan hit a huge six as well as a couple of boundaries before he was bowled by Zaheer Khan.Sangakara tried to make Sri Lankan inning
stable.He showed a good consistancy with batting and scored important 83 runs.
Jayawardene, who found some form recently, scored 30 runs before he was dismissed.After he got out, Sri Lankan batting lineup started collapsing.Kndambi and Kapugedera got out cheaply.Farweez played a good knock of 22 runs.Dilhara Farnando swung his arms in the end,but it didn't help Sri Lanka to survive.Sri Lanka were bowled out for 216.
Yuvraj was declared "The Man of the match" for his outstanding inning of 117 runs.
