- T20I Debut: v Australia at the Rose Bowl, June 13 2005

- Named ICC Player of the Year in 2005 after his starring role in England's Ashes triumph.

- England's best all-rounder since Sir Ian Botham and a match-winner with both bat and ball.

- Made his debut at just 20 and initially struggled with the burden of expectation.

- Took over the captaincy in the absence of Michael Vaughan on the tour of India in 2006 and led the team to an impressive 1-1 draw.

- Flintoff missed most of the summer in 2006 with a bone spur injury.

- Deputised as captain again on the disastrous 2006/7 Ashes tour as England were whitewashed 5-0 by the Australians.

- Struggled, along with the rest of the England team, at the 2007 World Cup. Flintoff's off-field contributions were more memorable than his on-field efforts as 'Fredalo' hit the headlines.

- After more injury troubles, returned to the England team during the Test series defeat to South Africa in 2008 before a string of superb performances in the 4-0 ODI victory earned him the man of the series award.
