- Test debut v England at Birmingham - June 1992

- ODI debut v West Indies at Lahore - November 1991

- He burst onto the world scene with a match-winning 60 off just 37 balls in the 1992 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.

- Despite his erratic running between the wickets he has hit a record 25 Test centuries for Pakistan, including two in 2006 against England at Faisalabad. Many have been match-winning innings, as was his monumental 329 against New Zealand at Lahore in 2001/02.

- He is the only player to have achieved a complete set of scores (dismissed or 'not out') from 0 to 50 in his One Day International career.
