- His Test debut coincided with his 18th birthday and he developed into perhaps the greatest reverse-swing bowler of all time.

- He achieved the best strike rate of any bowler with over 200 Test wickets and over 50% of those were either bowled or LBW.

- Uniquely, Waqar is the only Test cricketer to score more than 1000 runs without ever having scored a fifty.
