Super over in T20

On April 23–  Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals combined to provide a nail-biting game. The match was tied after both side scored 150 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The super over is a bit of a lottery and Rajasthan were lucky that, on the day, Yusuf Pathan outsmarted the equally destructive Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum to keep the defending champions’ hopes of progressing in the tournament alive.

While the super over is an exciting addition, the problem with it is that it is excessively time-consuming and can get frustrating. Only 12 deliveries (or less) have to be bowled to decide the result. However a lot of time is consumed in between. Of course the teams cannot be blamed as, unlike the penalty shootout in soccer, the players here have to get their equipments in place and also plan out the field placings. Add to it, the concept is very much in the nascent stage. Still  a time-limit needs to be set for a super over.
