- One of the finest exponents of reverse-swing, his yorkers proved devastating with the older ball and gave him vast numbers of wickets.

- He was Man-of-the-Match in the 1992 World Cup final, playing a considerable part with both bat and ball in helping Pakistan win cricket's premier trophy for the first and only time. Top wicket taker in the tournament with 18.

- Akram took four hat-tricks in international cricket, two in Test cricket and two in ODIs.

- By the end of his career, Wasim had taken a world record 502 wickets in 356 One Day international appearances, as well as a Pakistani record 414 Test wickets.
